Rays of Sunshine

So often, especially lately, I'm struck by the thought that the only thing I've really gotten right is my kids. So, that's what you get to see today. I went with Kyle's kindergarten class to the park and the pumpkin farm for a field trip, and it was a really nice time. Then, Kyle had a cross country meet today, rescheduled from last week, and he took seventh place. And his daddy was able to get away from work to come watch. Kyle was pretty happy with himself and we were proud of him.

And Hayley, despite her occasional bursts of I'm-about-to-be-a-teenager, is such a good kid most of the time it warms my heart.

Now...I'm going to go to bed and read for a good solid hour, after I've finished my Oprah magazine. Which I only buy when I'm feeling particularly mired in the soup, as those of you who know me well are aware. And I'm going to ignore all those things that are going bump in the night - it's windy and nasty and snowy out there, and I know I have skulls and gravestones blowing around in my yard.
