Folks, I'm happy to report, after a few years of ups and downs and craziness and shenanigans... I had an absolutely wonderful, fabulous, bang-up Christmas. Really. It was awesome.
For a number of years I've been hinting mercilessly about a KitchenAid stand mixer. So much so, that it's become a sort of inside joke, sort of like my Corvette I'll probably never own. So imagine my surprise, when a couple of weeks before Christmas I got my very own shiny red KitchenAid. He gave it to me early, he said, because he wanted me to be able to enjoy using it for all my pre-Christmas baking and so forth. The man knows me so well, it scares me sometimes. But the thing is AWESOME.
(And I inadvertently broke the coffee maker a couple of days later, so we went out looking for a replacement and he ended up buying me a super-duper coffee-espresso-cappucino maker dealio that rocks. Spoiled, I am.)
Anyhoot, for the holiday proper we hosted a humungous gathering, 18 people by my last count, which I think is just cool. All of our kids, Scott's parents from Boston, his brother and family from north of Denver, and my parents and brother all made it over/down/out for Christmas dinner. Those of you who know me well know that I love to play hostess, love to cook, love to do all of that Mormon-meets-Martha-Stewart crap. And it turned out well, no arguments or food fights or puking or other mishaps. The kids all got spoiled rotten, as per the norm, and all in all it was an awesome day.
Now, it's been back to the usual for a couple of days, almost caught up on the laundry and dishes... and this weekend saw the annual black-tie soiree one of the doctors we work with throws, which was phenomenal. And lots of fun to get dressed up. Will post pictures as soon as I get my hands on some.
In fact, I'll post pictures of lots of the holiday stuff here in a couple of days. For now, though, I'm gonna take a nap - been working for 12 and it's going to be beautiful later in the day so we hope to jump on the bike and go for a little jaunt. Hope everybody's Christmas was awesome also.
