Digging Out

Okay.  So it's been a long time coming, but this week it starts for real.

Digging out from under a mountain of paperwork, stuff that needs sorted and scanned and just generally gone through.

Digging out from under a mountain of debt and financial ugliness.  Slowly, but dammit, I refuse to be broke forever.

Digging out from under various numbers of extra pounds, the folks in our house.  I'm putting us all on a mandatory diet and figuring out how to motivate all of us to move our asses.

That sounds like enough digging, for now.

A busy weekend with lots of stuff going on... Scott and I went for a couple of motorcycle ride events, one of which was the Toys for Tots toy run yesterday.  What they were estimating was 1000 bikes, each with one or more toys to donate to less-fortunate kids... Now that's something you can feel good about.  Kyle and Hayley spent part of Saturday helping their Uncle B build his deck, which looks fabulous:

Yesterday, they got to go to the air show with Hayley's best friend and family, and they had fun doing that...Kyle got to sit in a helicopter and a plane, and I think it refueled his dream of being a naval aviator when he grows up...

The kids and I the other day were talking about when we had been famous.  Okay, not really famous, but locally famous, at least we thought.  We were on a billboard when Brian was working for a different company and needed a model family for a photo shoot.  Vis, the result:

I suppose that's enough drivel for now.  Some of you may see or hear that Scott and I have re-ventured into the wacky world of Facebook (we had both had accounts a few years ago, but various douchebags we work with thought it was funny to try and stir shit, and we totally lost our patience for the whole ball of wax.  So though we have now established a joint Facebook account, it's not up there for the purpose of social networking for us.  He networks through his phone, I via text message and this very blog - and those things aren't about to change.  Having a Facebook account simply allows us to monitor the doings of two teenagers.  Ah, parenting.

Hope everybody out there has a Glorious Monday (nod to B for all the crap movies we watched as kids and still quote from).
